About Kate Gosselin

Kate Gosselin was born Katie Irene Kreide on March 28, 1975. After high school the unassuming Pennsylvania native became a registered nurse and in
1999 she wed Jon Gosselin. With the help of fertility treatments the couple welcomed twin girls Cara Nicole and Madelyn Kate “Mady” on October 8, 2000. Less than four years later the couple underwent additional fertility treatments and conceived sextuplets: Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, Leah Hope and Joel Kevin.

About Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is the cosmetic surgical procedure which Kate Gosselin underwent in order to remove the excess skin and fat from her abdomen that accumulated during her pregnancies. Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a “tummy tuck,” also helps get rid of stretch marks and tightens the underlying muscles of a patient’s body so that he or she is left with as smooth and flat a tummy as possible. Like liposuction, abdominoplasty is not intended to achieve weight loss, but instead helps improve body contouring.

Kate was considered a good candidate for abdominoplasty because she is a non-smoker who was in good health and at a stable weight. In addition, abdominoplasty patients need time to heal following the surgery. For about a week, post-surgery patients will not be able to stand completely upright or move about freely. In Kate’s case, her husband and extended family helped out with the kids while she recovered from her surgery.

The Road to Reality TV Fame

It wasn’t long before the atypical family became media stars. The Gosselins got their first taste of fame when they were featured on the NBC reality TV show Home Delivery. The episode documented the transformation of their tiny Wyomissing, Pennsylvania home to accommodate their large brood.

Not long after NBC exited, Discovery Health entered the picture. In 2005 the Gosselins were featured in a special on Discovery Health entitled Surviving Sextuplets and Twins. A year later the family was featured in another special entitled Surviving Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later. Both reality specials garnered tremendous ratings, which prompted Discovery Health to offer the couple their own reality TV series chronicling the trials and tribulations associated with raising twins and sextuplets. Jon & Kate Plus 8 began airing in April 2007. The show’s first two seasons aired on Discovery Health channel and then moved to TLC.

The first season of Jon and Kate Plus 8 attracted millions of viewers, including Lauren Glassman, who was intrigued by Kate’s constant chatter about her post-birth stomach. Lauren Glassman is married to Dr. Lawrence Glassman, a noted plastic surgeon. When the Gosselin sextuplets were two years old Dr. Glassman contacted Kate at the insistence of his wife and offered the beleaguered mother of eight a free tummy tuck.

The offer to undergo free plastic surgery was too good for Kate Gosselin to turn down. The burgeoning reality TV star called the surgery a “wonderful gift to mothers” and happily agreed to have Dr. Glassman perform the procedure.

How to Get a Kate Gosselin Stomach Surgery

Kate Gosselin’s stomach surgery has controversy swirling around it. But the surgery itself is a wonderful gift to many mothers. If you have a gap in between your abdominal muscles and/or struggle with the elastic marked skin that comes after having multiple children this stomach surgery can help.

Abdominoplasty or a plastic surgery tummy tuck procedure helps to remedy the extra skin common to pregnancy. You can also have a surgery performed at the same time to correct separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti.)

Follow these steps to be sure you get the kind of quality plastic surgery tummy tuck Kate Gosselin received, and a careful recovery.

Step 1

FIRST, EDUCATE YOURSELF ON PROPER POST-BABY RECONDITIONING.

It is crucial that you know what helps to reeducate your internal abdominal muscles, particularly the Transverse Abdominis. This is a deep core muscle that can be damaged further by traditional situps, crunches, ball exercises, or even yoga and Pilates if not fully understood.

Step 2

ATTEMPT TRANSVERSE ABDOMINIS REEDUCATION.

Completely exhale all of your air. Do not suck in your stomach (using your diaphram). Clench your deep abdominal muscles so that your belly button retreats toward your spine. Hold for a significant amount of time. You may feel a burning sensation. Continue this exercise. Once proficient and stronger, practice on all fours to increase the exercises difficulty.

Step 3

CONSIDER THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS.

A plastic surgery tummy tuck procedure may leave a scar if done by a less than excellent plastic surgeon. It can also cause the navel to disappear entirely. Both of these complications can be addressed by further surgery. There is also, as with all surgery, the possibility of allergic reaction to anesthesia which can be deadly. But as a whole, this surgery is very safe compared to other surgeries you may undergo. A skilled surgeon is especially required to address the Diastasis Recti condition.

Step 4

SEARCH FOR A QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED SURGEON.

Search for a local surgeon online and be sure they are experienced and qualified. Interview them carefully to be sure you trust them. Ask for references and interview previous patients to be sure you are comfortable with the doctor. Tummy tuck prices alone should lead you to be sure you get quality care.

Step 5

HAVE THE TUMMY TUCK PLASTIC SURGERY PERFORMED NEAR A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR YOU.

You will need to be kept clear of infecting agents (sick people) for a significant amount of time. You will also need help to stay in bed, have things brought to you, help in getting to the restroom etc. So consider having your surgery wherever your close relationships can support you best.

Step 6

FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR POST-SURGERY RECOVERY.

You will likely be on bed rest for longer than you think. You will need help to move around, and may be on crutches for a short time. You will be asked to wear a stomach flattening fabric tube along with other precautions and recovery steps. Be sure to follow everything

Tips & Warnings

If your diastasis is severe enough your doctor may be willing to prescribe the corrective surgery which would allow much of it to be covered by insurance.

Shedule the tummy tuck plastic surgery and the abdominal repair at a date when you can have time for recovery and multiple sources of relational support.

You may experience tightness in the muscles especially in the morning and numbness in your stomach area for some time.

Bumps that arise from sutures are common and dissolve after several months.

Be sure to become completely educated on a tummy tuck plastic surgery in order to be well aware of the risks and possible complications. You can avoid many complications by being well informed and careful with your recovery.
